Upset With Ash, Brits Spend Their Cash

by Guy, 17th April 2010

Online retail voucher code site ShoppingVouchers reports record spending by Brits over the weekend as people flock online for some retail therapy while the Ash cloud continues to disrupt air travel over the UK and Europe.

ShoppingVouchers has reported a 32% increase in total sales since the commencement of the restriction on UK air space due to the Ash Cloud, Marketing Director at ShoppingVouchers Guy Harrington commented, “It’s quite amazing how a Volcano in Iceland can increase online user spending, now consumers are restricted to England they seem to be treating themselves! Most of the stores on ShoppingVouchers has seen an increase in sales, most surprisingly is Bondara the Adult Toy Store, quite an interesting increase over the past few days. Other retailers such as Homebase have seen strong sales, garden furniture to be precise, with the recent good weather summer could well be here.

Tesco has also seen a rise of 25% in sales, this has been all online grocery shopping, consumers wanting to stay at home and maybe not risk the Volcanic ash inhalation, maybe! Compared to Easter weekend its Chalk and Cheese, and with the Ash cloud predicted to continue for up to 6 months, we will be here to help the UK consumer save money on their online shop”

By the sounds of things as long as the Ash Cloud continues to plague UK airspace then online money saving gurus such as ShoppingVouchers will benefit, but who would of thought Adult Toy sales would increase with an Ash Cloud, whatever next!
