Shopping Vouchers

Patience is not just a virtue –it also means big savings

How many times have you been to the shop, seen something you really have to have, bought it and then less than a month later the price has gone down? Happens to me all the time, but just how much money can you save by waiting? Well, to answer that question I am going to use a little personal experience to try to guide you in the right direction.

Adsa always have bargains, but how is this for an amazing saving? The O.C. Complete Series 1 in a DVD box set - several years ago I paid over £60.00 for this when it was first released. Now if only I hadn’t been so impatient, I could have bought the exact same thing for less than a tenner. Yep, that’s right, on sale now for less than £7.00, a massive £53.00 saving.

And it’s not just DVDs and CDs that you can get money off. Booking holidays or flights can work out much cheaper just by waiting until closer to the travel date before booking. This is something I too have experience of. My aunt has spent over £300.00 on flights to visit me; she booked months ago because she doesn’t like to hang around. Now, my sister checked for flights to come over just last week and she saw offers for less than £100.00, a saving of over £200.00.

Waiting a few months after the release of the latest games console can also reap surprising savings. The same applies to the latest technological breakthroughs in entertainment hardware such as Blu-Ray players. How many of us remember the cost of DVD players when they were first released? The cost of similar equipment today is almost nothing in comparison. Why not just wait and get some money off?

It is hard to wait around, but when money is tight in the first place, a ‘wait and see’ attitude can pay dividends.
